Our World Champion – Congratulations Lucie!

World Champion

Competing over summer at the prestigious Malmö Arena, Lucie represented her discipline and the YMCA Fylde Coast community with outstanding success, taking part in four veteran events:

• Kata – a series of choreographed movements
• Kumite – sparring
• Weapons – performing forms with both long and short weapons

Lucie delivered an incredible performance across all events, earning:

🥇 1st place in Kumite (sparring) – World Champion!
🥈 2nd place in Short Weapons (silver medal)
🏅 4th place in Kata
🏅 6th place in Long Weapons

Lucie’s results mean she has now achieved World Status in all four disciplines — a remarkable accomplishment that reflects many years of dedication, discipline, and passion for martial arts.

“I’m so happy to have reached the top of my sport, achieving World Status in all four disciplines,” says Lucie. “It’s been an amazing journey and I’m grateful for all the support from YMCA Fylde Coast.”

Upcoming Self-Defence Workshop

Lucie will be running a Self-Defence Workshop at YMCA St Annes on Saturday 22nd November, lasting 2 hours. This practical and empowering session is open to all abilities and will focus on developing confidence and safety awareness through martial arts techniques.

If successful, Lucie plans to roll out a longer self-defence course over several weeks, so this is the perfect opportunity to get involved early.

Next Stop: The European Championships

Lucie isn’t slowing down any time soon. Next week, she’ll be heading to Riga, Latvia to compete in the WUKF European Championships. Building on her success at the Worlds, Lucie is ready to take on some of Europe’s best martial artists as she continues to represent her country and YMCA Fylde Coast with pride. We wish her the very best of luck as she steps back onto the mat!
