YMCA Fylde Coast are delighted to announce the launch of ‘Pass it on with Purpose’ in partnership with Dunelm
The Pass it on with Purpose home to home scheme, allows those in the North West to drop their new or used homeware items at a range of 18 stores, with YMCA Fylde Coast partnered with Dunelm Blackpool on Squires Gate Lane.
Dunelm customers are encouraged to pass on their pre-loved kitchen and homeware items for redistribution across local charities. This waste reducing scheme ensures items don’t get binned and are instead welcomed with open arms by charities like YMCA Fylde Coast.
Why pass on your pre-owned items?
As the cost of living increases many people across the UK are struggling to pay for other essentials, especially young people living in supported accommodation. YMCA Fylde Coast house over 60 young people across 2 different housing facilities annually, with many coming to us with nothing.
Senior Housing Manager Terri Greenwood on the partnership with Dunelm: “Many of our young people come from varied backgrounds and circumstances and some arrive with very few belongings. Trying to provide a homely flat is sometimes difficult as budgets are spent on ensuring everyone has essentials. Any donations from Dunelm are much appreciated and go a very long way for our residents.”
The initiative was designed in collaboration with environmental charity Hubbub, with aim to reduce household clutter for those donating while decreasing the number of items being sent to landfill. Not only can we aid those who are struggling to afford home essentials, but we will also reduce the amount of unnecessary wastage that would be created by throwing these items away.
“Our Home To Home trial offers customers in the North-West a meaningful way of passing on unwanted household items,” said Dunelm chief executive Nick Wilkinson. “At Dunelm we believe in the joy of being at home and by building this into our commitment to product circularity, we hope to help create more homely environments for people that may be struggling to afford essential items, while also reducing unnecessary waste and landfill.”
If you have any pre-owned (or new) items that you wish to donate, please head to Dunelm, Squires Gate Lane, Blackpool, FY4 2RP.
