As lockdown continues and YMCA centres and primary schools remain closed, we are sure you will be looking for ideas on how to keep your children busy with activities that are both entertaining and educational. Using our resources and working with our partners at Swim England, we have created some free downloadable water safety activities to help teach children how to stay safe in and around water in a fun and engaging way whilst YMCA centres are closed.
The downloadable pack contains 7 activities which are primarily aimed at children aged eight years and over, but you can always try them with those that are a little younger. The pack contains lots of fun activities such as crosswords and word searches that can be completed at home, including some educational activities that the whole family can get involved with too, so everyone can learn about water safety.
For younger children, there is also a colouring-in sheet as part of one of the activities. We know children love colouring-in, but educationally it also helps improve fine motor skills and helps improve pencil grip – and gives little ones an opportunity to get creative and enjoy screen-free time.

We’d also love to see pictures of the activities you complete over the coming weeks. If you have any pictures you can share with us that we can put on our social media channels and website, please send them in to us at enquiries@fyldecoastymca.org. We would love to see them
