Background
Set on the shore of Lake Windermere, YMCA Lakeside is one of the largest professional outdoor activity centres in the country. Lakeside offers over 50 water and land based activities, all of which are designed to inspire children and young people to grow in body, mind & spirit.
Over one million children and young people have had the opportunity to take part in a Lakeside experience since it first opened in the 1950s.
The Lakeside centre has suffered financially since the 1990s due to a lack of capital funds for investment at the site. In 2011 YMCA Fylde Coast took ownership of Lakeside and made a full commitment to redevelop the site. We have since secured planning permission from the Lake District National Park Authority to develop a brand new, bespoke School and Youth Facility. We are now working hard to achieve the £6 million we need to build it.
