Stay Safe With the YMCA

We are confident that our centres are keeping you safe at the YMCA – We are COVID-19 Response Approved

As mentioned in recent updates, we have been doing lots of work in the background to ensure we can re-open safely. See our phased re-opening dates here

We are working with our national partners at UKActive and Swim England as part of the ‘Fit Together’ initiative to ensure our YMCA leisure facilities are a safe place to visit. Our centres are COVID-19 Response Approved.

Here are some of the changes you can expect to see in our gyms, classes and pool halls:

KEEPING A SAFE DISTANCE

We have created the space you need to exercise and swim while keeping a safe distance

The gym and class spaces have also been rearranged across the centres and clearly marked out for you to use safely and for added piece of mind. Pool halls will also have markings. We are controlling numbers in the gyms, pool halls and classes, so it never gets too busy. Every 90 mins our gyms, pools and communal areas will be cleaned by our teams

HAND SANITISING STATIONS & SELF-CLEANING STATIONS

There are hand sanitising stations around the centres so it will be easy to keep your hands sanitised during your visit. We have numerous self-cleaning stations so you can clean your equipment before and after use. Cleaning stations are located in all areas

EXTENSIVE AND FREQUENT CLEANING

We have increased our cleaning frequencies throughout the day from dumbbells to step mills. We close every 90 mins in-between gym, class and pool times to clean. We undertake deep cleans in the evenings with specialist equipment and virucidal disinfectant, so you can work out with confidence.

CONTACTLESS ENTRY

Contactless entry with your key fobs to make your visit safer and easier with our scanners installed in all of our centres.

PROTECTIVE SCREENS

We have installed protective screens on our reception desks to protect you and our staff for extra reassurance

Y:ACTIVE APP

Sessions for the gym, pool and classes can be booked using the YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app, where you can also check how many people are booked in to each session. You can find information on how to book gym, swim and class slots here

STAFF TRAINING AND EXPERTISE

All staff have been fully trained on our new cleaning and safety measures to ensure these are delivered to the highest standard.

CODE OF CONDUCT

It goes without saying that we must work together to ensure everyone’s safety. Therefore, you will notice a member & user code of conduct for gym, swim & class use. These are displayed around the centres to remind everyone of the areas where we need to help each other out.
