YMCA Thornton celebrated the first anniversary of its redevelopment by throwing a family event to remember.
Hundreds of people from surrounding communities came together on the day and participated in a variety of fun and exciting activities and displays. Many local businesses and services also supported the event, giving local people a taste of what this family-friendly centre has to offer and raise awareness of our local services.
Activities on the day included a bouncy castle, face painting, biscuit decoration, photo opportunities with a number of superhero characters (pictured), a gymnastics display and a petting zoo with local attraction ‘Farmer Parrs’
Families also got active with a number of different family activities available on the day including Zumba, ten pin bowling at YMCA Bowl and an obstacle course. A selection of supercars from Ford were on show, in addition to, balloon makers, local arts and crafts merchants and party entertainers, who all showcased their skills on the day.
Scott Hardie, Sales Manager at YMCA Thornton and one of the organisers of the event said, “We want to thank everyone who supported us and came along to YMCA Thornton to celebrate our first anniversary with us and see first-hand what this family friendly centre has to offer. We also want to thank the local businesses and services who assisted us in helping to organise a fun day out for all the community. The day was a resounding success.”
YMCA member Lynn Bramley from Thornton Cleveleys who attended the event with her daughter Scarlett (pictured) said, “We thoroughly enjoyed our day out at YMCA Thornton.
