I have spent most of my life working behind a desk and not leading the healthiest of lifestyles. I’ve tried numerous different gyms in the past but never really stuck to a routine. A year ago I decided to change my lifestyle by stopping smoking and starting to run. To help improve my fitness and assist my running I joined YMCA. The opening times fit perfectly around office hours and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. It is a really friendly atmosphere throughout.
Unlike other facilities YMCA has everything I need for my workout and more. I like to vary my workouts between sessions in the well-equipped gym and participate in some of the excellent classes available e.g. boot camp, body combat and kettle bells. After each session I like to unwind in the sauna and steam room before getting back to my busy life.
I like the fact that membership allows you to use several different locations. At the weekend I get the family involved and make use of the swimming, squash and badminton facilities.
Since joining YMCA not only have I dropped a stone in weight, but I have also learnt a lot about my body and the correct way to train. The staff are highly qualified and go the extra mile to make sure your training stays on track. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the instructors. They are thorough and I never feel rushed, something you don’t get at other gyms.
Since using YMCA I have gone from running 10k to running my biggest distance of 44 miles and I have become passionate about fitness and have decided on a career change, I’m doing the gym instructor course at Preston College. I have had lots of help and advice from staff.
