See out 2015 with a HUGE SPLASH! this New Year’s Eve.
YMCA Fleetwood are holding their first ever family Aquathlon Swim and Run Challenge on Thursday 31st December 2015.
The team are hoping for a great turnout of participants and spectators to mark the end of 2015 at the centre with a splash.
This year’s Aquathlon has also been listed on the Go Tri website meaning the event meets the required safety standards and has received a Triathlon England event permit.
With three distances, the event has been designed with all swimming and running abilities in mind and for participants from age 8 up.

James Radcliffe, organiser and Duty Manager at YMCA Fleetwood said:
“We wanted to launch an event that all ages could participate in, encouraging Mums and Daughters, Dads and Sons, Uncles and Grandmas to just have a go.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity to see out the new year by celebrating the achievement of something new and different. And it is our resolution to continue with more events like this in 2016 and become a Triathlon centre.”
Added to this, the centre are also set to unwrap their biggest Christmas present yet on Monday 28th December. As, following Wyre Council investment of £134,000 investment, the newly refurbished and upgraded gym and brand new functional training zone are revealed.
The Aquathlon’s swim distances will take place in the main pool with the runs taking place on Fleetwood Promenade. The first wave will start at 10 am so there’s no early start.
The 3 distances are:
- 100 metre swim (4 lengths) / 1 mile run
- 150 metre swim (6 lengths) / 1.5 mile run
- 200 metre swim (8 lengths) / 2 mile run
