“…an incredible journey which has truly changed my life!”
Andrew Noble, 48 of St Annes began his journey with YMCA in February 2014.
Andrew pictured above in January 2015 and below early last year before commencing his new lifestyle.
Andrew was referred by his GP to join the Exercise on Referral scheme at YMCA St Annes and says from his first original assessment with Y:Active Referral Office Leigh Copley he discovered a whole new world of inspiration that would lead on to his complete life changing experience.
He shares his personal story with us here.
Andrew recalls: “When I met with Leigh he provided me with a fitness programme tailored for my needs and this helped me begin an incredible journey which has truly changed my life!
With support at each step of the journey with regular reviews and adjustments to my fitness programme I have lost weight but I have learned that it isn’t just about ‘losing weight’ but also about what I have ‘gained!’ …confidence, support, wellbeing, new friends, a routine, increased energy levels and the thrill of new experiences such as the exhilarating Zumba!
I never would have imagined I would be taking part in Zumba classes!!!! Thanks to the incredible support from the team at YMCA I have the confidence and enthusiasm for ‘new’ experiences now.
The really good aspect of the YMCA is that the instructors are so amazing but at the same time extremely helpful ‘approachable’ and indeed very supportive. They ‘listen’ and recognise my needs and create a fitness routine especially tailored for me.
I now look forward to every aspect of my programme which includes Zumba, Zumba Gold, Aqua, the gym and the Y:Active walks!
During National Fitness Day in September I tried the ‘Aqua Class’ for the first time and was so amazed at how much ‘fun’ it is!!!!
For years, I did not have the confidence to go swimming with my weight as the barrier. Now, I have the confidence to stand up and feel proud with the knowledge that I am enhancing my health one day at a time.
My weight loss continues yet I feel ‘wellbeing’ is more important and ‘enjoying’ my classes and gym sessions. My body shape has also changed. All the little changes add up to a big change in my life!

Happy and enjoying my journey with YMCA I was honoured to be invited onto the Momenta Weight Management programme in September which has vastly improved my fitness and changed my world!!!
Not a diet, Momenta has completely changed my relationship with food! I have dropped on average 1Kg per week and now with two weeks to go I am well on the successful path to Momenta ‘Gold!’ through mindful eating, label reading, menu creating, small changes adding up to a whopping big change. The Momenta Handbook will be my friend and guide for the rest of my life!
I find myself adopting new habits without any effort. Simple changes adding up to big change.
At the age of 48, I now have the blood pressure of a teenager, have lost over 2 and a half stone in weight, reduced cholesterol and feel fantastic!!!!!!!!
