    Your Membership Matters
  • Community is as important as ever right now and as a charity (Reg charity no. 1074571), we rely on the amazing support of members.
  • We rely heavily on mixed funding models, from donations and legacies, to membership fees and room rentals to assist with our charitable work in local communities. The YMCA continues to work tirelessly across communities to encourage people at all levels, regardless of their age, background or level of ability to become physically active whether through individual health and fitness programmes or through increasing their uptake of organised sports.
  • We value your loyalty and the YMCA only exists in the communities due to your continued support. Without our valued members we would not be able to operate, thank you!
  • If you would like to donate to us and assist our work, including helping the future of sporting facilities locally, you can voluntarily request to keep your monthly membership payments at the same price or if you are an annual member, you can keep your original renewal date. If you would like to do this, please email enquiries@fyldecoastymca.org

  • Booking a Gym and Swim Slot
Booking a Gym Slot - Booking will open on Monday 30th November
The beauty about our centres is that we have the space to accommodate the gym whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. It will not all be in one room as before, so it may look and feel a little different initially. We will still NOT be removing any pieces of equipment, as we have the space in the centres to accommodate all pieces of kit. However, due to a number of restrictions in place when we re-open again, you will still have to book your gym slots in advance, up to 7 days. For full terms & conditions on bookings, please click here

For any gym session that you book, you’ll be given a time slot to ensure that everyone has a chance to use our centres. This time slot includes entering the building, conducting your activity and leaving the building. Non-members will be permitted to turn up on spec and see if there is space at the time of walk-in but will not be permitted to book in advance.

Booking a gym slot will work the same way as you usually book a class. The YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app is the easiest way to book a gym slot from your smart phone or tablet. You will also be able to see how many people have booked the gym in specific time slots. You can book online via the website and you can also contact the centres directly or during your visit. The teams will be back in on 30th November but staff will be limited so please bear with us.

You can download the app for free. To install the app onto your device, you just need to open your app store and search for ‘YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles.’ Alternatively, you can follow this link for instructions

    Booking a Class Slot
Unfortunately as we are currently in Tier 3, enhanced restrictions mean that we currently cannot operate group exercise under the current tier. This will be reviewed by local and national government every few week and will be kept under review by ourselves. We hope we can introduce classes back soon but is subject to government legislation! Our centres have the space to accommodate classes safely whilst ensuring social distancing. Your usual class may be in a different room and there may be less of them initially but we hope this will only be temporary. So, it may look and feel a little different initially. To avoid any disappointment please pre-book your class in line with the current booking procedures via the YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app, this website or via contacting your local YMCA Health and Fitness Centre. Normal full terms & conditions on bookings apply, please click here

    FAQs
How are you going to keep in touch with me?
We will be sending out emails, and updates through the YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app (don't forget to turn on push notifications on your phone) and will be keeping this website up to date with everything members will need to know. Follow us on Facebook at Fylde Coast YMCA and Instagram at fyldecoastymca.

Why are there no classes at the moment?
Lancashire has been categorised into Tier 3 for the present time which carries with it more restrictions than previously. Whilst gyms and pools are allowed to open Tier 3, we unfortunately at this time cannot operate classes or group exercise. This will be reviewed by the local authorities and central government every few weeks, so we hope to launch our group exercise timetable again before long. Our partners at UKActive also continue to lobby with the government to ask that group exercise be removed from the restrictions in tier 3

I do not have an email address associated with my membership account how are you going to keep me up to date?
If by any chance you have not provided us with an email address on joining, the best way to keep informed is to provide your email address by contacting your local YMCA centre and the team can update it for you on your membership account.

What if I am not ready to come back?

We understand that you may be apprehensive at first, well you do not have to restart just yet. You have from the start of July until the end of November as we will be extending the option to continue to keep your membership frozen until 2nd January 2021 (unless you want to activate it sooner) For annual members, we will still add any extra days on to your membership in addition to those already received. All dates are subject to change and will be under constant review

  • PLEASE NOTE, the cut-off date for these requests will be 30th November 2020

  • Why are the centres at YMCA Fleetwood & Poulton not open yet?
As you will be aware swimming pools cost a lot of money. In "normal times" pool activities, swimming lessons and other charitable work we undertake could cover the costs. But under current restrictions we can't allow enough people in to cover some operating costs. That is why we need people to use the centres. Unfortunately, at this present time it is just not financially viable to reopen the centres in the current climate. Adapting centres to meet social distancing requirements also come with "significant costs" which could impact sustainability. We are a charity and not for profit and a great chunk of our income which support our services including membership fees have been "wiped out" by the pandemic, with little or no income from March through to July. The latest lockdown restrictions have added to this. It should be noted that according to latest research only 20% of local authority owned pools opened on 25 July across the country. Swim England has also produced research that states that almost a quarter of public pools across the country remain closed. Figures from Community Leisure UK’s Impact Report shows that almost half of leisure facilities in England (44 per cent) have not found it economically viable to reopen. We do however understand the importance of these centres to not only the health and wellbeing of all local residents, but the crucial role they play in keeping our local children safe by helping them to learn to swim. Our objective remains a collaborative one with Wyre Council and this is to open the centres as soon as it is viable and will be reviewed every month. Click here for the latest press release

I don’t have the YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app how do I go about getting it?
Downloading the app is easy, just go to your devices App Store or Play Store, search for YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles and click download. Don't forget to turn on your push notifications for the app so you can stay up to date with all the latest news. In order to register, you will need your email address that you provided on joining and your PIN that was given to you on joining. If you have forgotten your PIN, you can reset it here

Why are other services still closed e.g. creche, Harry's, Gymnastics, Air Skate & Spa on the Breck?
Financial constraints mean it is simply not possible to operate all services at this present time. Adapting venues to meet social distancing requirements also comes with significant costs which could impact sustainability. We take the safety of our members and users as paramount, therefore the practicalities on managing numbers in the centre, government guidelines surrounding childcare and other services means some of these services will take a little longer to resume than first thought. Our goal is to ensure they resume when it is safe and viable to do so. Spa on the Breck will remain temporarily closed for the foreseeable future.

Will you be opening the sauna and steam room at YMCA St Annes?
For the time being, unfortunately not at the moment. We will look to open these when viable to do so.

I paid for some products and services before the centres closed?
This applies to personal training and spa sessions. Our plan is to extend the expiry date of your sessions and all other prepaid products and services at leisure centres. Spa on the Breck vouchers will be refunded through an application process.

How are you going to ensure cleaning of equipment?
Every staff team member will be expected to complete a Covid-19 workshop and training course, including a new site induction. This will provide them with the information and training necessary to ensure they are fulfilling their obligations to keep themselves, our members and our teams as safe as possible. We will be supplying the teams with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as viricidal solutions and sanitisers, that kill viruses such as Covid-19 in just 60 seconds. The timetable has been designed to leave enough time between classes for us to clean any kit, ready for the next class. Please be aware that you need to help us by also cleaning your equipment before and after use and abiding by our code of conduct in the section below. Please note that some centres may require you to bring your own mats.

What will I need when I come for my class?
Please arrive at the centre in the clothes you will be working out in as the some changing rooms and showers will not be open at this time.

Where will the classes be held?
The beauty about our centres is that we have the space to accommodate you whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. When you arrive at the centre, there will be signage directing you through reception, where you will be asked to swipe your membership card and use the hand sanitiser provided, you will then be directed to where the classes are taking place.

What do I need to do to attend a class?
To avoid any disappointment please pre-book your class online with the current booking procedures via the YMCA Y:Active Lifestyles app or via contacting your local YMCA Health and Fitness Centre.

How are you going to ensure social distancing in classes?
We will be following government guidelines and there will be a maximum number allowed to book spaces in each class, plus the instructor. We are awaiting confirmation from public health as to what this may be. All classes must be pre-booked via the app or by contacting the centre direct. Classes will not be ‘back to back’. This will allow time for staff to ensure that the room and any equipment is cleaned thoroughly after each class, using a viricidal solutions, ensuring that everything is as hygienically safe as possible. Workout areas will be spaced out appropriately, ready for the class, so members will have a clear designated area. Once in the classes, please abide by our member/user code of conduct to keep everyone safe.

How are you going to ensure social distancing in the gym?
The beauty about our centres is that we have the space to accommodate the gym whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines. It will not all be in one room as before, so it may look and feel a little different initially. We will therefore not be removing any pieces of equipment, as we have the space in the centres to accommodate all of our pieces of kit. When you arrive at the centre, follow the guides directing you through reception, where you will be asked to swipe your membership card and use the hand sanitiser provided, you will then be directed to where the gym studios. Once in the gym, please abide by our member/user code of conduct to keep everyone safe.

    Will there be changing facilities?
There will be changing facilities but these will be severely limited with no shower use for the time being. Please check with the centre. However, please be prepared to come changed and shower at home. We are sure this will be temporary.

Changing Rooms will be open at both YMCA St Annes Pool & Gym and Kirkham but only for pool use and not gym use. Some showers will be available at YMCA St Annes Pool & Gym for pool usage and not gym usage. However, all showers at YMCA Kirkham will remain temporarily out of use. A selection of lockers will be available to use at both sites.

Why are the booking slots 90 mins?
In order to give you plenty of time to workout but to also allow us to clean the centres after every 90 min slot.

Will the opening times change at the centres?
Yes, some centres' opening times will change and some will remain the same. Updated opening times will be advertised here

Can I freeze my membership once it has been reactivated?
Yes, no problem we recognise these are strange and uncertain times. We want you to feel and stay safe with us

Will the water fountains be used?
Unfortunately not for the time being, so please come prepared your own full water bottles

What are the bather capacities at St Annes Pool and Kirkham?
The maximum bather capacity at St Annes Pool is currently 24 and at YMCA Kirkham the maximum bather capacity is currently 26. You can view how many people have booked at each centre's pool time slot via the app and/or online when you make your booking
