YMCA Receives £93,000 for Y:Women Can

A Fylde sports project set up to get more women active has been awarded over £90,000 by Sport England.

The Y:Women Can project will see YMCA Fylde Coast work in partnership with Fylde Council to increase once a week participation in the Fylde area amongst women aged 14-40 in three core sports (cycling, swimming and running). Fitness First for FTFC & YMCA

Fleetwood Town Football Club have joined forces with YMCA in a fitness partnership first for their players.

The partnership will see YMCA become the club’s official Fitness Partner for the first team and development squad.

Players will combine pre and post match fitness training at YMCAs in Thornton and Fleetwood with football sessions at their new Poolfoot Farm training ground.

YMCA Move Forward with Cancer Referral Programme

Thanks to Macmillan Cancer Support funding, an exercise programme aimed at improving life expectancy of people diagnosed with cancer will now benefit local people in Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre for a further twelve months.

The free 14 week fitness programme, Moving Forward, was initially launched last year for patients who had been recently diagnosed with either breast or colorectal cancer.

Now the programme has been extended for patients living with cancer in any part of their body and also for people diagnosed with cancer up to five years ago.
