Youngsters across the Fylde Coast will be making waves with us in support of the Royal Life Saving Society’s National Drowning Prevention Week between 16th – 26th June.
Throughout Drowning Prevention Week, YMCA Fylde Coast Swimming Pools will be incorporating specialised Swimming Safety activities and challenges into swimming lesson programmes during the week.
We will be using activities and resources provided by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (the UK’s drowning prevention charity) to teach local youngsters and their parents about the risk of being in, on and around water.

In February 2017 our Your Move Community Sport Activator and Y:Women Can Coordinator were given a fantastic opportunity to help the young women of the Fylde Coast get active. With the help of funding from Lancashire Sport and the Sportivate project, Your Move was tasked with giving young and inactive girls the opportunity to use the YMCA Fylde Coast fantastic leisure facilities for free for two months. We are delighted to announce that YMCA Fylde Coast have approved a £100k investment into the refurbishment of the gym at YMCA St Annes Pool & Gym.
As a result of the refurbishment, the free weights section of the gym will be extended, improvements will be made to the sound system and new equipment installed. The centre will see the inclusion of the latest generation of cardio equipment and technology from Life Fitness. YMCA Fleetwood Health and Fitness Centre have secured a grant to provide free swimming for children throughout the school holidays until February 2018.
This May half term (Saturday 27th May – Sunday 4th June 2017), free swimming is available during public swimming sessions (view our timetable here) for children aged 16 and under throughout school holiday periods up to and including February Half Term 2018.
