YMCA Fleetwood Leisure Centre is to receive £134,000 investment in new top-of-the-range health and fitness equipment.

Wyre Council’s Cabinet has agreed proposals that will see the centre’s fitness suite refurbished and totally upgraded with the latest digital fitness experience and cardio and resistance training equipment.

Integrated TV, internet and personalised workout features are also built into the kit and the addition of a pioneering Synrgy functional training system means live group workouts with YMCA instructors will be coming to the gym.

A Fylde sports project set up to get more women active has been awarded over £90,000 by Sport England.

The Y:Women Can project will see YMCA Fylde Coast work in partnership with Fylde Council to increase once a week participation in the Fylde area amongst women aged 14-40 in three core sports (cycling, swimming and running).
