Y:Weight’s Pink Army Race for Life Success

For 6 local ladies, completing this year’s Race for Life was a real personal achievement and dedicated to people close to their hearts.

The group, who are currently participating on the Y:Weight free weight management programme, raised over £800 between them ahead of the event.

And together they achieved something they would never have dreamed of a year ago, when just walking across the road presented challenges for some of the ladies.

The group reported that after attending the Y:Weight  and Y:Active program they were able to focus on personal goals in relating to health and wellbeing. Race for Life was the opportunity to put everything into practice and unite.

Daphny said: “Completing Race for Life was a personal  achievement in memory of my friend’s husband who passed away last November and my husband who is a cancer survivor. It’s been an amazing experience and something I feel was only possible with the support from the fabulous group of girls on the night but also the Y:Weight and Y:Active programmes. Thank You.”

Y:Weight Pink ArmyThe ladies joined the Y:Weight programme, which launched across the Fylde Coast, Lancaster and Morecambe in January this year.

The programme is completely free for men and women age 18+ with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or over. Calculate your BMI and register yourself onto the programme via the dedicated www.yweight.co.uk website now.

Through Y:Weight and with the support and expert guidance of YMCA’s specially trained Y:Weight coaches and just 12 group sessions, participants learn how to lose weight and keep it off for good and without expensive branded food or supplement products in sight!

Barbra added: “It was a great night for a great cause. Well worth doing.”

Debbie also set herself the next challenge! “I absolutely enjoyed the experience and it was a great atmosphere. I will definitely do it again but next time I’m going for 10k!”
