YMCA Fitness & Relaxation Classes

With so many Fitness & Relaxation classes taking place at YMCA’s across the Fylde Coast, we thought we would give you a helping hand in choosing the right one for you.

Below is a selection of our most popular classes and and what exactly each entails. To make it easier for you, we have placed them in to different categories based on the type of fitness each class will improve. We categorise them in the following way:

Strength Classes


Everybody wants better abs!  But more than just looks, strong abs help contribute to overall core strength.  This class has hit ‘em hard abdominal work firming up transverse, obliques, and rectus abdominus.


Exercises build strength and endurance, particularly in the lower back, legs, and shoulders, and increase grip strength.[ The basic movements, such as the swing, snatch, and the clean and jerk, engage the entire body at once.

Les Mills Bodypump

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 590 calories.

Les Mills Grit Strength

High intensity workout that means you burn calories for hours after the workout, increase aerobic fitness and grow lean muscle tissue.

Cardio/Tone Classes

Boxing CircuitsCARDIO TONE

You will learn new combinations, routines and advanced techniques for your boxing sessions in this dynamic class.


High-intensity interval training is a form of exercise in which you alternate between very intense anaerobic periods and slower recovery periods for a shorter, more efficient workout.


A pre-designed interval class that requires no equipment and is easy to learn and fun to participate in. INSANITY Rounds (released every other month) offer participants the opportunity to a challenging class with heart-thumping, well-timed music.

Legs, Tums & Bums 

Get a firmer bum, tum and leaner legs by attending our ‘Legs, Bums & Tums’ workout.

Less Mills Body Attack

A high-energy fitness class with moves that cater for total beginners to total addicts. We combine athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. A LES MILLS™ instructor will pump out energising tunes and lead you through the workout – challenging your limits in a good way, burning up to 730 calories.

Les Mills Bodycombat

A high-energy martial arts-inspired workout that is totally non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness and burn up to 740 calories.

Les Mills Grit Cardio

This workout uses a variety of body weight exercises and provides the challenge and intensity you need to get results fast. Improvements will be seen in CV fitness, speed and maximal calorie burn


On Spinner bikes, riders experience a challenging, exhilarating and fun workout. Knowledgeable and inspiring Certified Spinning Instructors — the core of Spinning — ensure riders enjoy the journey.


A form of aerobic power distinguished from other types of aerobic exercise by its use of an elevated platform (the step)

Mind & Body Classes


Goes far beyond your core muscles, however,r and not only provides a complete body workout (you will be working muscles you didn’t even know you had!), but also helps you develop an awareness of how your body works, helping your mind and body to work in harmony.


Many people think that yoga is just stretching. But while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility.
