The Disney Dream fundraising event held at Thornton YMCA in aid of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation was a resounding success raising over £1,800 on the evening and over £2,800 in total so far.

The event held in loving memory of friend and colleague, Claire Whitehead took place on Friday 20th May. Over 70 people placed fun bets on 6 action packed horse races and bid for fantastic auction items including signed sporting memorabilia, vouchers for family days out and much more.

Dave Carter, General Manager of Thornton YMCA said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the event, bought a raffle ticket or made a donation for this worthwhile cause. Claire didn’t get to go to Disney World but I’m sure she would be very proud of our efforts to make her dream someone else’s reality”.

The Rosemere Cancer Foundation is a charity that provides additional facilities and equipment for patients being treated at the Cancer Centre in Preston and the local Cancer Units throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. The Rosemere Cancer Foundation also funds vital local research, helping to provide the very best care possible for patients across the region.
