8 years ago at the age of 37, Julie Brown (now 45) of St Annes was suffering with tingling pains and sensations through her arms. The sharp pains she recalls would take her breath away.

An MRI scan revealed there was a growth at the top of Julie’s spinal chord and she was referred to a Neurosurgeon at Preston who diagnosed the growth as a Cavernoma, which is a cluster of abnormal blood vessels typically found in the brain or spinal chord. The team at YMCA Fleetwood are set to unwrap their biggest gift of all this Christmas… a brand new refurbished and upgraded fitness suite.

Following the announcement that the centre is to receive substantial investment from Wyre Council and YMCA, works will commence on Tuesday 1st December and once completed the centre will boast:

YMCA Fleetwood Leisure Centre is to receive £134,000 investment in new top-of-the-range health and fitness equipment.

Wyre Council’s Cabinet has agreed proposals that will see the centre’s fitness suite refurbished and totally upgraded with the latest digital fitness experience and cardio and resistance training equipment.

Integrated TV, internet and personalised workout features are also built into the kit and the addition of a pioneering Synrgy functional training system means live group workouts with YMCA instructors will be coming to the gym.
